The Real Estate Agent From Mars

My husband and I were ready to purchase our first home, so we contacted this agent whom someone else had recommended. We knew exactly what we wanted, how much we could afford and the exact areas where we wanted to live.

The first house that the agent showed us needed to be totally torn down and re-built. I wouldn’t want a dog to live in this house, that’s how bad it was. Then it was off to the next one. Aside from the fact that it was twenty miles away from where we wanted to be, it was right on a highway and at the time our twins were about seven years old. What is wrong with this woman? Does she not listen or care about making a sale.

A few weeks had gone by and we had heard nothing from this agent. I called her and asked if she had seen anything come across her desk that might interest us. Well let me check and get back to you she said. Days went by and nothing. I knew there were houses out there as I read the weekly real estate guide. I had driven past many homes that we might be interested in.

Finally we get a call. We go out to this house that was like a maze. The outside looked fairly normal. But once inside oh my what had these people done to this house. The bedrooms were all downstairs as well as the main bathroom. On the upper level there was a kitchen, laundry room, and living room. Struck me as being a little backwards. This definitely was not for us.

One day I was driving by a beautiful two story red brick house and it had a for sale sign on it. I wrote down the address and the real estate agency that was selling it along with the agent’s name. Called my agent and asked her if she could get the keys to show us this house. She made the arrangements and we met at the house. We walked through it and fell in love. We have been in this home ever since. I always wondered if she would have ever found us a house or if we would still be out there aimlessly searching for our dream home.

That's a great story Sue, thank goodness you took some initiative and ended up with your dream home. I can't believe True Real Estate Stories popped up on your Amazon list, that's so cool!

The same sort of thing happened when I bought my 2nd house - I thought it would take longer to sell my house (it only took 2 weeks!) and I had not found a house yet! I was not happy about how slow my agent was moving so I found it myself;)

I became an agent after that - but it's not really my cup of tea.

I love your house too and I would have chosen it if I'd seen it!

RH, sorry for the delayed response :) My husband and I at one time thought about taking classes and then writing the exams to become real estate agents but the course I've heard are very intense and take up a lot study time. Thanks for reading and for your comments. Glad you like my house :)
