67Are You An Obsessive List Maker?
I have been a list maker for as long as I can remember. I suppose it started when I was very young. When arriving home from school I would find a list of chores to do, sitting on the kitchen counter, or attached to my bedroom door. I myself would make lists for homework that had to be done, lists for presents that I wanted to buy for people, and lists of letters I needed to write. Writing lists for me is something that I do all the time. I often wonder if there is a name for a compulsive list maker. If there isn't there should be. Maybe something like listaholic or listamany.
This poem was inspired the other day from a comment that RealHousewife left on one of my hubs.
Lists, Lists And More Lists
Lists, lists, lists upon lists
Writing them out I will never miss
They help me to remember
So I do not forget… lists, lists, lists
Lists for groceries when I go to the store
Lists for food in my freezer and more
Christmas cards that I must send
Not forgetting anyone, so not to offend
Stocking stuffer lists on what to get
Check each item off
So that I don’t buy it again
Baking lists of what to make
Must remember to add chocolate cake
Lists I make for the chores to be done
Praying someone else will do just one
Back to school lists I used to make
What each child would have to take
Rulers, calculators, paper and pens
Backpacks, dictionaries, pencils in tens
Erasers, lunch bags, gym shoes too
Shorts from the store Campus Crew
Going on vacation making a list of things to bring
So that I do not forget one single darn thing
Planning a party for ten or more
Making a list for the liquor store
Important numbers are sometimes hard to find
A phone list on the fridge is divine
I even write lists when I am upset or mad
They stop me from screaming or feeling sad
Lists with ideas of things to write
Sometimes hidden and out of sight
As my family at times think I am nuts
For making my lists I say SO WHAT
I find them useful even fun to write
I’ll keep making them day and night

love it! I'm a list person...but sometime I need a list to remember my list....
this was awesomely clever.. is that a word awesomely? maybe I'll make a list of words that sound right but may be wrong.. LOL up and awesome and a GOLD Star for your lists
Another simple idea that works well in a poem. I should follow your lead as i'm always forgetting stuff to take onto the job and having to double back. I'll go and do it now then! Cheers:)
This verse has much truth in it that especially comes with age. At some point we have to have a list of the list to remember the lists that we do want to forget to remember. Did I miss anything here? WB

A love this poem I can relate to. I am I lister, I could even add to list of lists. lol
Lists are important and very necessary. i write them all the time. Now if only I could remember where I left them.
This reminds me of me, I am always making list. I make a list everyday... lol.. I love it!! :D

I am definately a list person as well. I make lists for bills, for hubs to write, for chores that need to be completed, for presents that need to be bought, for what we need to pack, for what DVDs we own... man, I truly love lists too. What would the world be without making lists!

Oh, yeah. I'm a list maker from way back. I love lists. Couldn't make it through my week without my lists
I am a "listy" myself. When changing handbags I would find lists form the month before. I bet I could find lists or notebooks from over 5 years ago. I like using the notebook because it's easier to find and you can refer back to it easily.
I make a list for everything. It is the only way I can remember anything. But then I started losing the list and couldn't remember where I put them. I finally got a notebook....it is easier to find the little notebook than to find a lone piece of paper. LOL. Great and fun hub.
I'm with Mck, List-makers unite! My husband and I are list fanatics, there is no other way surely!!!

I hardly ever make a list, apart from shopping lists for food! But I have a notebook for my writing ideas so maybe it is sneaking up on me and I will end up being a list-maker:) I enjoyed reading this hub, it is very well written and fun!

Very clever poem and hub! I keep my grocery list on my phone (as an e-mail I never send -- just keep saving as a draft). My phone is always with me. While I am shopping I delete the items. If I change my mind about buying somehting or I can't find it -- it stays on the phone until next time.

Dee, Sometimes I write a grocery list on a notepad then I rip the page out to go shopping. Then I have to search my jean pocket or in my purse or my wallet for the list. :)

My have always made list. I can't remember anything. My husband does not have that problem. I always have so many ideas going around in my head I think that's why I need a list for everything.

HA! Love this Susan! I am absolutely a list writer. Never can have just one either. And when they get sloppy, I must rewrite them. Kind of obsessive about it. And if I end up at the store without my shopping list, I seriously can't shop. I totally forget everything that I needed. Fun read, thanks!

This is a great Hub! My boyfriend is a list maker, and he's been trying to get me to become one. I do make lists, but what I need is something to remind me to look at them.

I agree with so many of the comments above. Yes the older I get the more things get added to my list. I wonder if it's because we fear that deadly "A" word I forgot the rest of it to long to remember so I shortened it to Eh "A" lol. great hub Susan, now I need to get my bucket list prepared. I've got places to visit and less time to do it all in:-)
