How to Play Scrabble on Your Computer

Updated on August 13, 2013

Download Scrabble Free

Do you enjoy playing scrabble but have a hard time finding someone to play with? You can play scrabble on your computer, androids, iPhones or iPads, at various websites. My favorite place to play is on the application that Facebook provides.

Playing Scrabble online

In order to play on social sites you will first need to have an account on that site. Once your account is up and running do a search within the site for Scrabble.

The scrabble board is the exact same as the original game. There are 100 tiles each ranging from 1 point to ten points, and 2 tiles that are blank allowing you to choose your own letter but do not have a point value. Rules and scoring are identical to the standard game.

When Playing Scrabble On Facebook

Multiplayer

The first thing you need to do is create a game and name it. You then decide on the dictionary you'd like to use and the game speed. You will then have the option to choose if you'd like to play with friends. You'll be able to play with one - three friends. Either do a search under Start New Game or scroll down to find your friends. Click on their picture and click start. An invitation to play will be sent to them. You will then be taken to the game itself and you can start your first play.

Should you choose to play with a random player you can either create your own game or join in a public game.

There is also an option to search for games. Here you can pick your dictionary, game type, number of players and speed of game being slow, medium or fast. If there are available games to join one will pop up for you to play.

One Thing You May Not Like

The one thing you may not like about playing online is that sometimes it can take up to a week to play a complete game. If the person or people you're playing with are not online as much as you are this can become a bit frustrating.

Benefits to playing Scrabble on Facebook

There is a dictionary built into the game, and a tab that you can go to while playing to check to see if the word that you want to use is a legitimate word.

You can take as long as you want to decide on your word to play as there is no timer involved.

As you place your tiles to spell out your word, the score of the word will pop up. This gives you a chance to see if you can score higher points by maybe putting your word elsewhere.

If you have family members or friends that you like to play scrabble with, but you only play when you get together with them, Facebook makes it easy to play with them at anytime.

Each time you play a notice is sent to the person you are playing with to let them know that you've played and it is now their turn.

There is no limit to the number of games you can have going on at one time. So if you happen to be a Scrabble addict play ten different or more games at the same time.

You can download the Scrabble application on your iPhone, iPad or Android and continue to play when you're away from your computer.

Play Scrabble Against the Computer

Some people may feel nervous about playing online Scrabble due to various reasons. If this is the case and you still would like to play on your personal computer there are several CD-ROM games that you can purchase and play either against a computer program or with other players in the house.

Next time you have a family game night include Scrabble.

All of these games are very easily installed and allow you to play at anytime you like.
