Whether you are planning a trip, or live in Toronto, there are many fun summer activities in Toronto that you can do.
Free Activities in Toronto
Ontario Place is celebrating its 40th Anniversary, so this year, admission to the grounds is free. This includes some of the events and live entertainment. This park is on 93 acres which includes an IMAX 3D cinema, over 30 rides, Soak City, a water park, marina, restaurants, lounge pool and it is located right in downtown Toronto. Whether you are a child or an adult this is an absolutely fantastic place to spend the day, or see a concert in the evening.
There are three main stages at the park which feature shows such as Pipeworks, an acrobatics show, Earth Rangers, Treehouse and Extreme Wake Series.
For rides you can either pay as you go or you can purchase an all day pass. If you plan on going more than once to Ontario Place there is a Canadian Family Play All Summer Pass, which offers you the best value.

Toronto Metro Zoo - A Visit To The Metro Toronto Zoo with Rick Mercer
Metro Toronto Zoo
Come and visit the Penguins for summer fun in Toronto at the African Endangered Penguin Exhibit.
The Toronto Metro Zoo has over 5000 animals from all over the world. Children will love the petting zoo and can have a pony ride or see the New Guinea Singing Dog from the region of Australasia.
The Canadian Domain includes animal such as the moose, Trumpeter swan, Wood bison, Wapiti, American elk, the raccoon, grizzly bear, cougar, Northern bald eagle and the Canada lynx.
August 26-28th is Orangutan Awareness weekend and since it is International Year of the Forest what better way than to celebrate this 2011 event.
On September 12th all seniors 65 and older not only get free admission into the zoo but they can ride the Zoomobile all day.
I have to warn you though this zoo is huge (710 acres), so bring some comfortable walking shoes. To see it all in its entirety plan to stay at least six hours.

Toronto sounds like a great place to live as their is something to do that would suit anyone's taste. I enjoyed all the facts that you put in this hub as well as your sense of humor. Rated up an awesome.
Woooow! I so want to go to Toronto!! What an awesome city, and there's so much to do!! Blergh.. WHAT AM I DOING IN SAN FRANCISCO???? I'll have to plan a trip.
I've never been to Toronto, unfortunately. Great list of bands coming to town. I remember Def Leppard. They became popular when I was a teenager. I just adore Rick Mercer. I'd love to check out Ontario Place.
Interesting and useful information. We are experiencing a very serious heat wave in Massachusetts right now, even on Martha's Vineyard. The words Toronto and Canada just sound refreshing. Great information. Thank you.
Thank you for an interesting hub about Toronto and all the useful information. I haven't been to Toronto for many years. It's time for another visit!
Looks like there are lots of fun things to do there! Toronto must be a beautiful city!
Toronto sounds like a great place to visit. I'm so glad i took the time to watch the zoo video, Hilarious!! Thank you.
Toronto seems like a lot of fun.
I have always wanted to visit Canada. I fantasized about living there permanently too. Who to tell, maybe I'll migrate.
I used to live in Upstate NY and I've been to Toronto for a concert. It was in the late 70's though so may not even be the same place now. Nice hub. I'd like to go to the zoo!
Toronto is a beautiful city. I learn much from you about fun summer activity we can do in Toronto. I'll do this if I have a chance to visit Canada and Toronto as well. Thanks for writing and share with us. Well done, Susan. You got my vote. Have a nice weekend.

Really appreciated that you left-in the videos for us to watch, good stuff! The Toronto skyline is so beautiful at night, as your opening image confirms. The second my feet hit the ground in Toronto, I would head for the Metro Zoo; I have a real Zoo problem, can't stay away from the darn things no matter where I land. This is a particularly handy guide for enjoying the things Toronto has to offer. Thanks so much for sharing with us Susan! Looks like I will be adding Toronto to next years travel itinerary!
Way up and Awesome my friend~
Cheers!

Rated up! I loved it...but, I have a special place in my heart for Toronto (it is still 'for lovers' right?) It was my honeymoon destination. :) Thanks for sharing.
Susan, I actually know a few people who have visited Toronto and in fact, my lucky fishing hat (wearing it in profile photo) was a Toronto souvenir gift from a friend who visited the city what must be the best part of twenty years ago! :) You've certainly featured a great deal of wonderful information in this Hub and it sounds as though quite a party is in store this summer. I hope that you and all who visit have a great time.
Some great summer ideas Susan, it is nice to have someone list it all out so nicely and put it together so you get the real picture! Very well done, rated up and useful!
